A coupe of weeks ago, the first publication of "This Week in the LEC..." featured a series of workshops that are geared towards exploring diverse approaches to engaging students, using course design strategies from Quality Matters, Universal Design for Learning, as well as other learning frameworks, models, theories, and technologies. These new workshops will present evidence-based practices and are grounded in the science of teaching and learning. The face-to-face sessions are approximately one hour long and registration is still open!
Our first workshop, "Writing Course Objectives" is just a few days from its debut! This is a workshop you do not want to miss! Learn how to transform your current learning objectives into a roadmap of meaningful course content. You will review methods for creating learning objectives that are clear, concise, measurable, and suited for the level of your course.

Participants will explore how the six cognitive level domains of Bloom’s Taxonomy are helpful when writing clear, concise, and measurable objectives that are suited to the level of the course.

If you have writing assignments in your course, then you already know that plagiarism can be a problem. This workshop will present the tool, Turnitin, which helps identify instances of potential plagiarism. During the workshop, you will learn about the various ways in which Turnitin can be used in your Canvas course so that you can begin screening writing assignments for plagiarism, as well as grammatical errors.

Canvas Update
Starting at the beginning of the Winter term, the New Gradebook feature will be the standard gradebook of Canvas. The New Gradebook allows instructors to apply filters and arrange the gradebook in a way that makes it easier to use.
